SAAXICII-—The struggle which has
developed in connection with the
selection of a site for the proposed
new school in the Burnside district.
I South Saanich, lias not yet reached
| its last phase. Last week a deputa-
i tion ,of about thirty residents of the
j section waited on the works commit-
! toe of the municipality to request
that the Council withhold its vote
of $1000 to aid in the financing of
the structure until the School Buai'd
changed its mind with respect to the
school's location. The point at issue
it. whether the new school should be
built on the present site at tho corner of Tillicum and Burnside roads '
and to the north ""of the H. C. E. R.'s
inlerurban line, or on a property lo-i
cated   near   the   intersection   of  Tilli-;
cum Road and Ker Ave. and to the'
south of the interurban right of way. j

VICTORIA—With regard to the
proposed extension of SooUe water-
woiks service to Happy Valley, Metchosin and William Head, Water
Commissioner Rust states that there
are many phases of the question that
have to be considered. Two of these
are as follows: There is no provi-
, sion in the present scheme for the
necessary surveys, etc.. which must '
be made, and ho proposes to take an
'opinion from the city solicitor on the j
' matter as to whether proceeds of the |
unsold portion of the authorized dp- [
bentures can be used in that, way for J
extensions of the system not within
the limits of Victoria.
The system of conveyance of the
water would have to be considered,
firstly as to whether the city should,
supply from the concrete flow line
by way of the-Kangaroo trail, or secondly from the pressure pipe line by
way of Luxton and the Happy Valley
road. The latter would probably cost
?2f),000 more and it would be a matter of estimating whether the additional consumers secured would offset
