W. Seymour, Goodyear Tire Dealer, Tells How to Prolong Life of Casings. "In purchasing tires the motorist should always bear in mind that there are' many different kinds of rims and that to get the longest mileage his tires must be made properly to fit snugly and must only be applied to the type of rim for which they are intended," said 0.. W.' Seymour, the Good- 3fear tire dealer. "There are three standard type's''of tires. These are 'the regular clincher, straight-wall detachable and the quick detachable clincher. The best way to avoid mistakes is to buy tires of tho most reliable dealer. When this is done there is seldom any Question of a good fit and proper application. The difficulty generally arises from switching tires by the motorist himself. '.' "When the tire is.forced on to, the wrong rim it isaecessarily in a cramped position., The fabric cannot pull true and consequently breaks down much quicker. Here,, then, is an im portant point in the longer life of the tire, to be sure that you have the proper tires for the proper rim and that it fits snug and true." DO IT NOW! That time worn slogan, "do it now," should have especial appeal to. man or woman contemplating the purchase of a motor car in these days of con stant increasing prices. With materials advancing,* labor more,/difficult to obtain, and' a gradual decrease in passenger car -production, prices on any car are likely to advance at any time. . So the wise man does not delay the purchase of the car he wishes to own. He realizes that if he gets his car at present1, prevailing prices he will have nothing to worry him if the announcement is made that motor car prices have taken another rise. There is always that possibility that government work may entirely prohibit motor car manufacturers from turning out automobiles for commercial use and I believe this also is having its effect on the public, -who realize that for quick, ■■ economical individual transportation, nothing quite equals the passenger automobile. Operates from any lighting circuit from I i.o to 120 volts. Ask us to demonstrate The Tungar Rectifier developed by the Research Laboratory of the General Blectric Com- ' pany simplifies small-battery charging., It is designed to ehaage the alternating-current, found is most residence garages, into direct current which is required -to •harge a storage battery. The TUNGAR will give a starting battery sufficient charge overnight to be assured assarting capacity the next morning, ©Ten though the battery be entirely exhausted. The discovery that has.made the TUNGAR possible is really embraced in the small bulb ton which the "process of changing the alternating current. to direct current takes place. This bulb closely resembles an' incandescent lamp. It is filled With an inert gas and contains a tungsten filament and an "anode" of graphite. v The bulb is- mounted in a black japanned: casing with a tperforated top. This casing contains a compensator which reduces'the alternating voltage without using wasteful resistance, and also excites the filament in the bulb. In:addition, the casing' contains a: fuse to protect against the reversal of the battery and other'overloads. Canadian General Electric Co.
