The award was made by the local representatives of the Paramount* Victoria Theatres Limited, as being the.lowest of tfrose submitted. While the amount of tlie 6gure submitted by Luney Brothers for the "general contract is not made public* tor the present until the necessary documents are all signed,, up, it is understood to'be in the ,neighborhood or a quarter of a million dollars. ^be theatre is to cost complete approximately 8000,000, and will have ,a seating capacity of 1500., One of the conditions of the contract is that worl* 'is to be rushed with the utmost dispatch in order to" get" the new playhouse opened as soon as possible. It is hoped to be able to open the .new theatre by the first of next June. NEW WESTMINSTER.—The B.' C. Silicate & Talc Company, which is already operating a' plant in Burnaby, is preparing to .move to* New Westminster, and is ready to do so at onCe, provided some arrangements regarding future taxation of a'site-selected on the North Arm of the" Fraser can be arranged. The project involves the erection of a factory that will cost about $10,000 to $15,000 and the establishment of an industry that would give employment to from" 25 to 35 men. The city has offered the company a very suitable site which was once owned by the late Sir Richard,MeBrlde, who paid 136.000 for it, but which "is now. held for tax arrears ^amounting to $1,687. Mr. Hunt, manager of the talc concern, is well satisfied with the site, but wants some assurance or a continuance of the city's present policy of not taxing improvements. This will probably be submftted to the ratepayers -in the form of a tax exemption by-law, as the present city council has not the power to bind future councils. This is combined by special processes with various oils, and other weather resisting materials, producing a compound that, when used on roofs, forms a tough, elastic, durable, waterproof coating. An advantage that cannot be overlooked is the simplicity with which FIBERLASTIC can be applied and the economy effected in its use. It i-; not expensive in spite of its exceptional quality, as one coating of FIBERLASTIC is all that is necessary to make a thoroughly satisfactory and protective coating. The tenacious rubber-like film which FIBERLASTIC forms over various tvpes of roofs adds to them manv "ears of-service at a minimum of cost. It is of a nature that can be worked satisfactorily on any surface, giving the same permanent and effective protection to all. FIBERLASTIC when applied to an old roof practically forms a new roof over the old, at the cost of usual roof repairs. :ms Foul Bay koiiu , ..v...,._ Yates & Blanchard....Param't Vic. The saving feature1.of the situation today in both iron and steel is that stocks on hand are "small and that mills and furnaces are ait^prk on accumulated unfilled orders^/Reports from Pittsburg indicate that the demand' for nails and wire was slackening and that prices were inclined to be off. (Continued from Page 1) the average of one new dwelling per day that'has been maintained in'the city for several months past. Point ( Grey not only started one new home j during each 'working day of the} month, making 26 in all for which j permits were issued during Xovem-j ber, but these 26 new residences have an aggregate value of $121,800. The large total; for these 26 new homes is in itself a strikingly 'significant indication of the. fine class of residences that are being erected in'Vancouver's favorite hcme-huilding suburb. Tlie total value of the AS building permits in Point' Grey during the month aggregate S311.615, which also j far surpasses the value of the 149 . permits issued in the city which total only SI 48,073. Due allowance should be made in this fine total for Point Grey for the fact that it includes one" large school costing $170,000,1 which naturally tended* to boost the month's aggregate considerably. But i even leaving out that 3170,000 school, Point GreVis still leis than $7,000 shy. on Vancouver's total for the month, all of -which • conclusively proves that Point 'Grey is. just about the most active municipality in tho province, just now, from a building; standpoint. ' * The month's total of $311,615 was made up of $11,480 for repairs; 26 dwellings at $121,800; 12 garages, $7,635; and two schools at $170,7.00. The total shows almost a-triple increase on November, 1^19, when the 48 permits issued had a total value of 106.205. For the eleven months of the year there 'has been 694 permits issued with a total value of $2,131,744, The Canada Shingle Co.,Ltd. Ma-rafsctnrers of British Columbia -RED CEDAR SHINGLES Txicee Might.
