Good progress is being made in pumping out the Brooklyn-Idaho mine at Phoenix, and it is expected the property will be in shape to commence shipments of ore about September 1st. Ore having values up to 3,000 ounces of silver and $16 in gold to the ton has been opened in the lower tunnel fof the Republic mine on Springer creek, according to a report from Slocan City, B. Heavey, one of Philadelphia's most progressive contractors. Mr. Heavey is endeavoring to assist Philadelphia business men in building better business blocks, and also better, homes/ ; For over three years, Mr. Heavey gave his haulage contracts to hired trucks. To a certain extent his business-grew because Mr. Heavey believed in giving the people his best at all times,■ but,he wasn't satisfied; accordingly two;years'ago\this March he purchased his first Federal. His fleet of three Federal dump trucks have worked wonder in his business. "I purchased my first Federal Model 'U'" says Mr. Heavy, "equipped with Woods - Dump Body and Hoist, from the Federal "Sales Company of Philadelphia about March 23rd, 1916. "Prior to purchasing my first Federal I hired trucks for the delivery of bricks; and find that it is much more satisfactory and economical to operate my own trucks. It has meaut to me more satisfied customers, and the trucks have enabled me through their efficiency to materially enlarge my business. The low cost of operation of Federals, coupled with the prompt and efficient service rendered me by the Federal'Sales Company of Philadelphia, has made .me a firm believer, in your truck, and the fact that I am a satisfied customer is represented in my repeat orders, and I hope to enlarge my fleet from time to time as business conditions may warrant the same. "These trucks have been operating every day. The 3%-ton Federal has averaged six ; trips, 1,400 bricks per load and 50 miles per day." have noticed a tendency among the auto owners to economize, which has found expression in a larger amount of re-tread and other tire repair work; Another factor aiding us in the development of our business is that all of the work done here is on a guarantee basis." FORD MOTOR CO. TO RESUME MAKING CARS Windsor, Ont—- The Ford Motor Company of Canada will resume manufacturing today. Instead of the former 250 cars a day, the output will be reduced to 100.. Scarcity of materials is' the reason given for the decreased output. As a result the working force will be reduced about fifty per cent. SIZING THEM UP.
