The Granbv earned about $400,000 in March, when the production was 3,S07,G00 pounds of copper. This is compared with 3,843,686 pounds in February. Approximately $125,000 was expended in wages to miners in the Kamloops district during the year 1917, and it is expected that this year's total will greatly exceed this amount. The sale is announced of the Slo- can Star mines, near Sandon, together with all the buildings and equipment, for the sum of $24,000 cash, the purchaser agreeing to assume a debenture indebtedness of $9S,000. The sum of $30,000 will be spent in tlie construction of a dam for the production of water power for thc mine and mill of the Lanark mines just east of Revelstoke. During thc past winter a tunnel was driven across two shoots of ore. The Rocher De Boule Copper Company, near Hazleton, have increased their working force to about a hundred men and more will be added to as soon as the installation of the electric haulage .in the tunnel is comp'eted. - ' - <- Northwest Mining Truth, , of Spokane, in' an article that goes pretty fully into details regarding the overissue of Lucky- Jim stock, demands that Prosecuting Attorney / John B. Splendid feats of hauling by motor truck over shell-torn roads in the war zone do not greatly over-shadow the performance of motor trucks in' the western lumber camps. H. W. Sherman, of Madera, Cal., has the contract for hauling freight for the Madera Sugar Pine Mills, which are located sixty miles from Madera, back up in the mountains. This mill' is . one of the largest on the Pacific coast, producing between 250,000 and 000,000 feet of lumber per day. The company owning {the mill operates about twenty miles of logging railroad, iwith five locomotives, about fifteen logging donkey engines, and employs between seven and eight hundred men. VARIES TRUCK'S WORK. Operating a motor truck to advan tage, is the paying investment of Henry Silverman, of Wood&town, N J., a cattle dealer. When he is not transporting cattle in the- Maxwell, he is hauling potatoes. The cattle guard body holds 102 bushels of potatoes in bags. REO DISCONTINUES 2-TONNER. The Reo Motor Car Co. has discontinued the production of its 2-ton truck. , This move was'made because of the contract it has with the Government to make tractors. Until the completion of the contract the company will make only one model of truck, that being the three-quarter-ton speed wagon. 100,000 MOTORS .THIS YEAR. The number of automobiles in the Dominion of Canada places her third in the list of the world's greatest car owners.
