BAILEY Plumbing and Stearafitting 1033 Granville St. Vancouver, B. C, Phone Sey. 136 Res. Bay. 77 NORTH VANCOUVER—In, a letter lo the city council City Engineer -A. R. Clucas pointed out the gravity of the situation in respect to possible .contamination of the city's water supply in" the event of logging operations being permitted on the watershed I lands of Lynn Creek. After pointing 'out tlie essential features of pure wholesome water, Mr. Clucas stated the greatest possible danger to the public health of this community was from i sewape consequent upon mining or 'logging operations being carried on over the lands from which the city gets its water supply. If an effort is not put forward to prevent such operations Mr. 'Clucas warned the council that the t city would soon be without a water supply fit for domestic use. Although contamination by sewaee was the only point taken up so far by the city in its fight against the watershed lands of Lynn Creek being molested by logging operations, the engineer was of the opinion that contamination of the water by the removal, of the timber was quite as serious as pollution from sewage. Mr. Clucas drew attention to the fact that the city had complied with all the regulations required by the waterworks department'of the government and therefore from the public health standpoint the citizens' of the1 North Shore should be protected. He suggested that any compensation should be from the government in behalf of the city by way of an exchange of the timber on the Lynn Creek watershed for timber of equal quantity elsewhere in the province.
