Lome   Campbell,   Minister   or  Finance, on Monday.- -The revenue shows  -. a  falling off of about $1,000,000 for  the  . anticipated  revenue for this  year,  while  the expenditures show a slight increase.  The   exact   estimated   revenue   is   $5,-  944,016,  as compared with  $7,134,615  for  the present year, a difference of $1.09o,-  000. ' '"Lands,'  upon-which-$565,000 is to" be spent this  year, and "agriculture," upon which  $176,500 will probably be expended, are  each' given a service to themselves, thus  'greatly reducing the. "miscellaneous"  total.  Present conditions have ,also necessitated more and larger hospitals, the result being an unusually large increase  for hospitals and charities. Last year  $16,000 was voted in the way of assistance in the construction of hospitals.  This   vear  about   $150,000   will   probably  • be granted for that purpose. Grants to  refuge homes, aid societies, etc, is increased from   $19,000  to  $S0,000. *  University of B, C.  Among the appropriations in this  year's estimates is "a conditional one of  . $200,000 for the University of British  Columbia. Last year's estimate was  $175,000. Included in the works and  buildings to be constructed by the Public Works Department are the following; Okalla ' prison farm, $15,000;  improvement of government reserve,  Burnaby, $10,000; mental hospital and  colonv farm, Essondale, $35',000; provincial government buildings, London 'completion- and maintenance), $1(5,000;  maintenance, $S,000. The appropriations  provincial normal school, Vancouver,  for roads, streets, bridges and wharves  In each constituency are the same as  last year. Chilliwack gets $33,300;  Delta $22,500," Dewdney, $68,500. and  Richmond $40,000. Eighty thousand is  revoted for Kingsway through the Municipality of Burnaby. Point Grey gets  $10,000 for roads, and Nicomen Island  the same amount for dyking; $13,500 is a  subsidy for the Ladner-Woodward ferry.  The vote of $100,000 on last years  estimates for the Second Narrows bridge  Is left o:f. For bridges generally $lo0,-  000 is set down, while for the bridge  over the Eraser River at Prince George  there  will  be an  appiopriation  of  $150,-  000.  An item in the Land Department appropriations is that for $20,000 foi  "timber testing and investigation ot  wood products." An indication that the  government intends to continue seeking  overseas markets for the H. C. lumber  trade Is that another $50,000 Is appropriated for sallies, travelling expenses,  and purchase of material.  Other Appropriations.
