TRAIL—The Consolidated Co. has decided to rebuild their large concentrator, destroyed by fire a few weeks ago, in Trail, rather than at Movie, where it was formerly situated. Work has been started on clearing the ground for the new structure on Smelter hill, to ;be located immediately north of the zinc works. The main building of the new department will be about 100x50 feet in size and will contain the mill proper, the concentrator dryers and roasters, etc., the flotation process being used. It is understood, that the new concentrator will be used primarily as an experimental plant for concentrating the complex ores from the company's Sullivan mine. . VANCOUVER — At the Board of Works meeting Wednesday afternoon it was recommended that Nelson St., from Homer to Mainland, be paved with bituminous macadam and surface drainage installed at a total cost of, $2,000. Various improvements to portions of Front St., in the vicinity of the new Coughlan shipyards, and also to Dufferin St., were approved to the extent, of $2,550. Sargent, and Dinsdale, was appointed by the city council last evening to co-operate with the Board of Trade deputation in appealing to the Government to continue the aid to shipping. C1LEBROOK—Insurance adjusters have now completed their examination of the ruins of the Campbell River Lumber Co.'s shingle'mill here which burned down last week. It is understood the loss is estimated at about $10,000. The mill, which was a very modern little plant, was practically wiped out. VANCOUVER—In the course of an application Wednesday on behalf of tbe British Canadian Lumber Co. for permission to the receiver to soil certain lands, it was stated that 152 out of the 360 timber licences held were practically valueless, and that $21,000 a year in licence fees would be saved by abandoning them. The Record was published by the Record Publishing Company, which had previously published the paper under a number of different titles, including the Daily Building Record and the British Columbia Building Record. The Record subsequently evolved into the Journal of Commerce. |
