The Mining Convention, sitting a t  Victoria, last week appointeda commission to proceed to Fernie to endeavor to  settle the Crow's Nest Pa.vs coal mi ncrs'  strike. The great interest the Boundary has in the early obtainnient of full  supplies of coke and coal for its mines  and smelters was recognised b y t h e  convention, which placed three Boundary men on the commission, viz., A. C.  Flumcrfelt, Grand Forks; F. Keffer, M.  E., Anaconda, and W. G. G a u n c e ,  Greenwood.  . i  Wm. Watson and John Salmon, two '  miners known about Anaconda, drilled  into a missed hole in the Knob Hill  mine Monday night. Watson was killed outright and Salmon sustained fear  ful injuries. The sleighing is fine in Lind Creek  gulch and the snow there measures 28^  inches.  The electric light from  the   smelter  at Anaconda went out    on      Saturday  last.  Mrs, Keffer left for Victoria 1 a s t  'Thursday    She will return tomorrow.
