NEARLY   READY   TO   START
CONSTRUCTION   OF   PIER
The work of driving piles for the
\vest pier of the (1. T. P. Ry., to be
erected at the foot of Main st., will
begin within a few days, according
to K. T. Lucas, engr. In charge. All
old buildings on the site have been
demolished and the site cleared. The
west pier will be 550x100 ft. nnd an
approaching wharf will be constructed along the waterfront for a distance
of :U0 ft. In length by 280 ft. wide,
giving an area of almost 100,000 so,,
ft. The pier will be covered partly
by a warehouse 70x500 ft. Negotiations are now pending between the (!.
T. P. By. Co. nnd the North Vanoou-
vcr City Ferries, Ltd., for the erection
of an overhead bridge from the fern
company's property to the (1. T. P.
entrance on Main st. The west pier
will be large enough to berth two
steamers of the G. T. P. style on each
side.
DEPOT TO BE LARGER
THAN HERETOFORE PLANNED

Advice   from     New   Westminster
states that the Mil.elan Lbr. Co. of
Vancouver is about to close a dual to
take over the timber, land and logging camps of the Hen Roberts Co.
of New Westminster and the site of

WESTMINSTER  THEATER
WILL BE REMODELED
Archt. B. W. Houghton, of Seattle,
has about completed plans for the entire remodeling of the New Westminster opera bouse on Lome st. The
plans call for the widening and deepening of the stage and the removal of
the old pillars in the bldg., which obstruct the view. The bldg. will be
widened 16 ft. to allow the erection of
fire escapes. Modern dressing rooms
will be provided for the actors and
cloak rooms, smoking rooms and res!
rooms for the patrons. The seating
capacity will be increased from 850 to
1,200. The alterations will cost between $",0,000 and $76,000.
