Winch Building, is preparing plans and
will be ready next week for tenders
on the construction of a seven-story
building on Hastings St. for S. Jones
and also for a six-story building for
Otis Kensoin. lie is also preparing
plans for the liaplist Church building
to he erected at the corner of Tenth
and Laurel Sts.
JEWISH CONGREGATION TO
ERECT  SYNAGOGUE
The congregation of Temple Knian-
uel has passed a resolution to create
a liuilding committee, purchase a lot
ami erect a synagogue of I heir own.
Tho building fund was started with a
subscription of $10,000 at a recent
meeting, nnd the committee expects to
raise $f>0,000 within the next ten days.
The committee is composed of S.
fiint/.berger, J. [sen, M. Plant, J.
Fleishman and L, Mollkaw. The lot
which tho committee bus In view as
a site is west of Granville and has a
tlii-ft. frontage.
NEW WESTMINSTER
STREET PAVING CONTRACT
T. R. Nickerson & Co., 512 Dominion
Trust bldg., expert io receive word
this morning to the effect that they
were at Inst night's meeting of the
council of New Westminster, awarded
the contract of approximately $38,000
worth of stone block paving In that
city. Tenders were opened some lime
ago and this company's tender was the
lowest  submitted.

.McLennan. MeKeely <t Co. have purchased from the C. P. it. Co., the triangular block fronting on the main
line of the railway between lleatley
and Carl aves,, with a frontage of 400
feet on Alexander St., and will erect
thereon a large warehouse, plans for
which arc now under way. A warehouse for Iron will 'in I be erected on
the property and tho larger bldg will
be constructed  later.

CHINESE QUARTER TO
BE HOUSED IN NEW
AND MODERN BUILDINGS
The Chong Hlng Co. (New Chinatown Realty Co.) has been organized
by a number of leading Chinese of
Vancouver to erect entirely new and
modern buildings to house almost the
entire Chinese business community of
the city and to establish an entirely
new Chinese quarter. Among the
leading members of the organization
are tho Chinese Uenevolent Association, King Fung Co., C. T. Tong, Sam
Sing and members of the Sam Keo Co.
and the Lee Yuen Co. The corporation is capitalized at $">00,000 with
shares valued at $100 each. The site
for the proposed buildings has already
been purchased and comprises Blocks
15 and 16, Dlst. Lot 183 1), and the
greater portion of Blocks 3 and I. The
scheme is similar to one successfully
carried out by the Seattle Chinese
colony about a year ago. So far as
could be ascertained by lite Record, no
architect has yet been engaged.
