REVELSTOKE COURT HOUSE.
Tho general contract for the construction of tho proposed now court
l.ouso at Kevelstoke, II. C, has been
let by the provincial department of
public works, Victoria, to Foote, Prad-
allne & Co., Kevelstoke, for approximately 1180,000. The building will be
of brick nnd steel construction and is
to be completed next summer.
WORK ON BIG STEEL
PLANT TO START SOON.
According lo 0. A. Barrett, 2S2 Hastings St B., work will be started within
two months on the Imperial Car, Shipbuilding Ai Drydock Co.'s. immense
plant lo be ereeted at Hocbe Point, at
s cost. Including equipment, of $;s."o,-
000. The wharf will extend out
ISO teel so that at low tide there will
be .in feel of water, and a eoncreto re-
talnlng wall, 48 feet Ugh at the highest point will encircle the structure.
The plunt, which will be erected by
day work, will cover a space of five
acres and It is expected that work
will lie completed In IS months.

LARGE SAWMILL PLANT
The Brettlngham-Young Lumber Co.,
of Madison, Wis., which owns 11,000
acres of timber land at the head of the
North Arm of the Krnser Hlver at
Indian Head, will booh construct large
booms for assisting In floating logs
to tidewater. The company is also
considering the erection of a large
sawmill plant P. N. Norton, of Wll-

LARGjE RAILROAD CONTRACT
AWARDED TO ST. PAUL CO.
Guthrie & Co., St. Paul, have been
awarded Hi* contr. by the Great Northern Ry. for 1", miles of track laying
and bridge building from Princeton
lo Coalmont, B. ('., on the Tulameen
river. The work will contain six crossings.
$150,000 BRICK  PLANT
NOW IN OPERATION
The Anvil Island Uriel; Co.'s. new
plant, which was completed about a
week ago at a cost of $160,000, is now
in full operation, and will turn out 30,-
000 pressed brick a day. British capital is behind the proposition and the
plant, which was installed under the
direct supervision of M. 11. Taylor, general manager, is said to be the most
complete in Western Canada. It is
located 22 miles from Vancouver, on
Anvil Island in Ilowo Sound. The
Company's head offices are at 342 Seymour Street.
TAKING TENDERS FOR
LUMBER AT KERRISDALE.
The municipal council of Kerrlsdale,
II. C, municipality of Point Grey, is
receiving tenders for the supply of
lumber lo different polnls in the wards
of the municipality. Estimated quantities, points of delivery and further
particulars may be obtained from the
engineer. Tenders must be In by 5
p.m., Monday, July 3rd.
WILL  NOT START THIS YEAR.
It Is not likely that anything will be
done this year toward starting work
on the proposed new ('. P. R. depot In
Vancouver, according to information
given out by an employee of the company.

CHBMAINUS II. C���The Muskegon
Holler Works arc making plans for
the erection of new shipping sheds
with five million feet capacity. They
are also building new railway sidings
and expect, when Improvements are
completed, to Increase their rail shipping capacity considerable.

that the contract for the construction
of the proposed now prison farm at
Burnaby for the provincial government
will be awarded this month.
PAVING CONTRACT AWARDED
VICTORIA���Tho     Worewlck     Co.
have, on the recommendation of the
city solicitor, been awarded the contract for taking out the macadam on
Cook st., between Fort and Mears sts.,
and replacing same with a heavy
asphalt pavement. The company snu-
mltled a figure of 7.r, cents a cubic
yard for exeavullng nnd $1.75 a square
yard for paving. Two cluster lights
will be inslulled on each side of tho
street.

HOSPITAL PLANS COMPLETED
CRANI1ROOK, B. C���Plans for the
proposed new Isolation hospital have
been received from Victoria and are in
the hands of the city solicitor. The
building will cost about $3000 nnd will
be erected this summer.
SEWER PLANS APPROVED
CRANHROOK, B. C���Dr. Fagan,
provincial health officer, has approved
I he plans for the new sewer system
here and the work of Installing It will
probably begin about the first of July.
WILL SPEND $30,000,000
WINNIPEG���Construction of new
lines nnd extensions of* and Improvements to existing lines of the Canadian Northern Railway will entail the
expenditure of about $30,000,000 this
year.

Vancouver municipal council decided,
at Monday night's meting, to clear and
grade Argyle St., from 63rd Bt. to River
road, and 58th ave. from Main St. to
Ontario St., by day labor.
J. T.  HERRITT SELLS OUT
A number of well known Vancouver
business men have recently Incorporated the Great West Sand & Gravel
Co., Ltd., and purchased the entire
business and good will of the J. T. Iler-
ritt, with offices and warehouse at
1020 Westminster ave. Mr. Horrilt
has retired, for a time at least, from
active participation in the building
material business. The oHIcers or the
new company are Hector Stewart,
pres.; J. O. Ullock, v. pres.; V. C.
Smith, secy and treas., and Chas. Cart-
wrlght, manager. Mr. Smith Is a comparative recent arrival trom India,
where he was engaged in railroad and
government contracting.

CITIES NEARLY $14,000,000
According to "Construction" the
total amount ot building permits for
thirty cities In Canada during April
was $13,7!I2,230, as compared with
$l l,s4f,,4!)ll during the corresponding
month of laBt year. The total for
Toronto was $3,272,818, over $1,500,000
greater than any other city.
