It appears more than likely that the Japanese found on North Island were trying to get into Canada contrary to the regulations. This is what it looks like now, and they are Accordingly held at the Detention sheds awaiting instructions. All of these alleged wrecked fishermen are now in the city. They are all well nourished and show no signs of long privation. It Is therefore believed (by many that they came other than by accident. McNicholl the head of the Colonization ancl Industrial Department of the G. T. P. here returned yesterday morning from San Francisco where he has spent a good part of the Buinmer. He is glad to be back and says Prinee Rupert looked pretty good to him when he came in yesterday. The fair at Sun Francisco has been a line one lie says and should be of very great advantage to the G. T. P. and Prince Rupert in the future. Canada has been well advertised through its excellent display there. The Canada building he says was undoubtedly the best there. The G.T.P. has had agood display and has kept that part of the country through which the line passes well to the front. This will have its effect on the future. The Imperial Oil Company is extend ing the influence of the local depot all the time. While up tothe present time the shipments of oil over the G.T.P. have been IVir the railway company almost exclusively the intention now is to begih shipping to Edmonton in the oil companies' own cars to supply the territory that is served from the Edmonton centre. In a few days now the Imperial company will have its 0,000 gallon tank here and these will carry oil from the tank depot here to the tank at Edmonton. In the past Edmonton has been served from the east. When the tank cars arrive this will be the base of supply. Capt. Anderson who has charge of the steamship service as the Imperial Oil Company on this coast was in the city yesterday. Bulgaria Continues To Declare Her Neutral Intentions London, Sept. 25.—A despatch from Sofia says that a semi-official statement announces tlie entry of Bulgaria ito her new relation towards powers ln the war. The statement announces that Bulgaria's state of armed neutrality is explained by changes wliich have ac- curred recently in the political and military situation. Bulgaria says the statement has not the slightest agressive intention. She has resolved to be armed to defend her rights, explained by changes which have oc- fpllowing the example of Holland and Switzerland, Bulgaria has been obliged to view the movement of troops effected by her neighbors as a danger threatening her.
