DIAMOND DRILLS
ARRIVBD Ol .WIOOI.A VAU BY OM
WEDNESDAY
To Drill oo tba Nicola, Kamloops dt
Similkameen Coal 4 Railway
Company a Property On
Ths Coldwater
Further evidence of the business acumen of at least one of
the coal companies in the Nicola valley was lurnished this
week, when Dan Munro J. G.
I hynne and Frank Mansfield
brought a diamond drill into
the valley from Hedley on
Wednesday.
The drill has been placed on
the Indian reserve behind the
late Wm. Charter's place, with
J. A. Irvine in charge of the
outfit.
We hope however that this
is only indicative of further developments. No one questions
the necessity ol drilling, but
what all would like to see, is
when an accessible and workable seam has been located,
some real development work
be started and coal got out.
The Nicola, Kamloops &
Similkameen Coal & Railway
Co., who have been instrumental in getting the drill in, intend developing their property
right away.
Now let our other coal companies take a lesson and get
down to business.

FIRE BRIGADE
Sometime ago The Nicola
Herald made a suggestion that
some effort be made to organize a fire brigade in the town
of Nicola. As yet nothing
has been done in the matter.
Why not get together and discuss the matter ? When fire
has committed its ravages, it
will then be too late. A volunteer bucket brigade may be
the means of stopping a large
conflagration,
