Joe Petsie is busy these days
applying the finishing touches to
the race track.
C. L. Copp returned from the
coast on Tuesday en route for
the Coronation mines.
Miss M. Hurley who has been
at the coast for the past few
months returned home on Saturday last.
Mr. and Mrs. P. Ferguson, accompanied by Miss C. Crawford
and Mr.-C. Cowan, left on Thursday for the mines.
Mrs. Paul McMasters arrived
in town form Vancouver, and at
present the guest of her mother,
Mrs. D. Hurley.
Messrs Brett & Phair have
secured the contract to paint C.
A. Phair's store, and are rushing
the work.
Ed. Dougherty has this week
taken over the entire management of the Victoria feed stables
on main street.
Mrs. R. Smith of New West
minster arrived in town this
week by auto Lillooet, and is the
guest of Mrs. Manson.
The Methodist Sunday School
picnic which was to have taken
place yesterday, June 30, has
been posponed till Friday,  July
7.
Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hurley arrived home from the coast on
Saturday last, having spent a
very pleasant and enjoyable vacation.
A. McDonald, M.P.P. and J.
K. More, road superintendent,
arrived in town on Monday from
Clinton, paid a visit to Bridge
camp and returned home on
Wednesday.
Frank Mclntyre made a flying
trip to Lytton with the auto
Lillooet, returning with Miss F.
Manson who has been at the
coast for the past few months;
she reports having spent a very
enjoyable time.
Will Haylmore, local fire warden, is kept hustling these days;
he arrived home on Sunday after
a tedious trip into the Pemberton
country, only to find a telegram
calling him to the 150-mile house.
Truly some of these government
positions are a snap.
SCHOOL CLOSES FOR
SUMMER VACATION
The closing exercises of our
local school were held yesterday
at 10 a.m. There were quite a
number of the parents and friends
present, amongst whom were
Mrs. J. Bell, Mrs. Macfarlane,
S. Duguid, W. L. Phair, Trustees
Hurley and Phair. The school
was prettily decorated with orange blossoms and presented a
very neat appearance. There
was a good attendance, and the
best of order preserved all the
way through. An exellent program of songs, duets, recitations
was well rendered by the scholars
which included the Maple Leaf.
This last number in particular
deserving of mention as being
splendidly given. During the
recital Trustee Hurley distributed the following rolls of honor;
For general proficiency, Mable
Hurley; deportment, Stanley Dur
ban; and for regularity and
punctuality, Darwin Bell.
Miss M. L. Hunter, teacher, is
to be most heartily congratulated
upon the high standard she has
set and enabled the school to
reach, and the scholars themselves for faithful attention to
their studies.
After the breaking up of the
school, the children were photographed by A. W. Phair.
HOSPITAL BUILDING
RISING RAPIDLY
The hum of the saw and the
click of the hammer everywhere
is to be heard, and building and
improvements are being carried
on daily. The Hospital has now
received its frame and bids fair
to be completed by the end of
July.
The ladies of the Methodist
church assisted by others, will
have a refreshment booth at
Paul Santini's store, to supply
the wants of the inner man. The
booth will be open on Saturday
and Monday.
Divine services will (D.V) be
held in Methodist church tomorrow as follows: Sunday school
at 11 a.m. Evening service at
7:30.
J. E. Martin and Miss E. Martin, of Kennedy lake, who have
been on a visit to their many
friends at Pemberton, returned
to town on Wednesday en route
for'home sweet home.
A meeting is being called for
Saturday July 8, in the school
house, for the purpose of electing officers and the voting of
money.
From all reports our local boys
will have to work hard to compete against the Pemberton boys
on Monday. There is no doubt
but what the Lillooet boys will
give them a hard run for their
money.
We Hear That
The kissing bug is running wild
these days.
Our Boys intend to form a
minstrel troupe this fall.
A good strike of silver ore has
been made in vicinity of Seton
lake.
A new book of marriage licenses have arrrived.
Jimmy Rovvbottom is expected
back shortly.
There is a movement on foot
to keep all Klootchmen from
hanging around town.
Fire hall No. 1 received a coat
of paint yesterday, and turned
pale with the result.

catering to the wants of the
natives.
J. McPhail arrived in town this
week from North Fork for supplies; he reports everything coming along nicely.
E. S. Richmond of New Westminster is in town this week
looking round with a view to

Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Noel arrived in town early in the week
from the mines. Mr. Noel reports the mines to begivinggood
satisfaction.
Mrs. W. Page is now fully recovered from her accident which
occurred by the falling of a
window on her head.
Sport enthusiasts are more than
busy these days, preparing for
July 1 and 3. Fall in line and
let us see what you are made of.
Jack Sebring arrived in town
on Wednesday from his ranch on
Bridge river; he reports everybody well and the crops coming
along fine.
D. Bothwell of the Pemberton
Hatchery, arrived in town Wednesday; he reports all the boys
well and everything coming along-
first class.
A. F. Noel, president of the
Sports committee, relieved the
pockets of our local citizens this
week, many side-steped but few
escaped.
W. Baillie and J. P. Wilkie of
Clinton arrived in town Wednesday en route for Lytton to take
in the races there. Walter intends bringing some good horseflesh into Lillooet for Monday's

NOTICE
PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby jriven that, under
* the authority contained in seclion 131 of the
"Land Act," a regulation has been approved by
the Let u tenant -Governor in Council fixing the
minimum sale prices of first- and second-class
lands at $10 and $5 per acre, respectively.
ThiB regulation further provides that th*? prices
fixed therein shall apply to all lands with respect
to which the application to purchase is given favourable consideration after this date, notwithstanding the date of such application or any delay that may have occurred in the consideration
of the same.
Further notice is hereby given that all persons
who have pending applications to purchase lands
under the provisions of sections 34 or 38 of the
"Land Act" and who are not willinir to complete
such purchases under the prices fixed by the
aforesaid regulation shall be at liberty to withdraw such applications and receive refund of the
moneys deposited on account of such applications.
