Julius, the burro man, recently from Nevada, visited town Wednesday, and reports that the little donkeys are in good condition and also mentioned that the circulation of the Advance should be increased, as the burros certainly miss their feeds of the sheet that they were regularly fed on last winter. OVER-SEAS CLUB LOYALLY CELEBRATE MAY 24 The social event of the season occurred last Wednesday evening when the Lillooet branch of the Over-Seas club, held their first grand ball and social in Santini's hall, in celebration of Empire day. The hall was decorated with the National colors and patriotic emblems and numerous pictures of the nation's rulers and heroes andiwas a credit to all concerned. The dance started at 9 o'clock and continued until 11:30 when a dainty supper was served under the supervision of Mrs. Bell, during which a very entertaining programme was rendered. After supper the dancing was resumed and continued until the wee small hours. About 120 people were in attendance, including several out- of town visitors, and all agree that this was the event of the season. An appropriate souven- ior badge was given each guest and worn throughout the evening. Fred Johnson of Cayoosh creek spant a few days in town this week. One of Lillooet's pretty sights at present and one admired by the numerous visitors is the orchard of H. J. Keary, which is a glorious mass of blccm. This is very encouraging for the season's fruit crop which promises to be a large one. Will Haylmore arrived yesterday from McGillvary creek having done the development work on the Ruby mineral claim, owned by John Dunlop. He completed an open cut on the vein and uncovered an excellent show-, ing of free milling ore. Mr. Haylmore leaves today for the Pemberton Meadows where he will survey his pre-emption. A sad accident occurred on Sunday on the C. P. Railwaj a few miles west of Mission, when an old man, endeavoring to save his cow, was killed. It appears that his only cow was wandering across the track unconscious of the approaching train. The old man, seeing the danger, endeavored to drive her from the track, but too late, for the train struck the cow throwing her on to the old man with violent force rendering him unconscious. He was put aboard the train and taken to Mission where the doctor pronounced life extinct.
