by a .daring Hank movement under Gen. Sir John French. Go

May, lyoo, and was the hero,
near Rcnsburg, of an exploit
which won for him ihe D. S. 0.
and was said to have been
worthy of a Victoria Cross. On
Jan. 19 he was recotiuoiicring
north of Col. Porter's position, when two troopers who
formed the advance guard were
fired on by the enemy. One
man's horse bolted with its rider into safety. The nther lmrsc
was shot. Lieut, de Crespignv,
whose own horse had lieen
twice wounded, borrowed a
charger and dashed back
through a rain of builds to thl
rescue of the disiiiniiutcd trooper. The borrowed horse was
also shot, but a trooper came
to the rescue and all three gol
