IMPERIAL DEFENCE
The importance of preserving
our fisheries (or the white population, was emphasized in a
new light on Tuesday evening,
at the hoard of trade meeting
by A. G. Perry. During the
discussion of the resolution on
imperial defence, Mr. I'errv
stated that the building up of a
naval reserve force on the Pacific coast, would prove a difficult
matter, unless our own local
fisheries were retained in Unhands of our own race. He had
lieen in a position to make observations in this regard in
Kngland, and he had noted the
fact, that the old country was
to a large extent, dependent upon the multitudes of fishermen
for the needful supply of men
for naval purposes. Similar
conditions would doubtless prevail here, il any attempt were
made to build up a naval reserve, and the problem would
prove very difficult of solution
if an alien race is allowed to
monopolize the fisheries.
MOVING PICTURE SHOW
North Vancouver is about to
