afternoon last, demanding a rise ol live
cents an hour. As a result work on
handling all package freight Is al a
standstill, and lour vessels are In the
harbor awaiting discharge ol cargo

twenty cents per hour for week days,
and twenty. Iwo and a hall cents per
hour on Sundays and nights. Serious
trouble Is anticipated, and twenty-five
special policemen have been sworn In
and are guarding Ihe company's properly. A fire, suspected to have been
slatted by outsider, was dlicovered
under freighlshed No. I. While the
firemen worked to extinguish li three
hundred striken and sympaihlien
looked on and leered. Tha freight
handlers cf the C.P.R. al Perl Arthur
