Nelson, July 21.—TheGreal Northern express running north from North-
port to Ihis clly aboul S p.m. crashed
Ihrough a bridge al Beaver Canyon,
aboul six miles north ol Waneta, ai
at the Inlernailonal boundary. The
known dead are; Judge W. B. i' wn
send, lormerly of Rossland. right-of-way
agent lor the Greal Northern Railway,
residing In lhls city with his wile and
son-in-law; K. B- Smith. Kaslo. bar
proprietor on the steamer Kaslo; and
M D. McKlnnon, purser on Ihe sieam-
er Kaslo. Seven others are reported
more or leu seriously injured. A
special train was sent Irom Rossland
with doctors and nurses, and the whole
party arrived here al about 2 a. m.
Sunday.
SUICIDE AT CHIU.IWACK
Miss Olive Robinson, ihe sixteen-
year-old daughter ol Mr. J. Robinson,
ol Chilllwack, committed suclide on
Sunday alternocn by taking laudanum.
She wai discovered unconscious and
Dr. Henderson, who was called in.
managed, alter two hours' hard work,
to restore her to consciousness, but
thorlly alter ahe expired. No reason
can be ttcribed for the little girl wish-
ing to take her llle.

murdered body ol Mary J. Dalion,
daughter ol John Dalton, ol South ]
Wellington, was lound this allernoon,
and Featherstone, a sawyer at Ihe
Wellington mill has been arrested,

found the body of his daughter lying on
her back. Iter fair hair In a pool ol her
blood, and the mark of a revolver bullet
on her forehead. Featherstone was
found lying on a bed sleeping oil a
drunken stupor wilh a blanket thrown
over him The accused man was nol
acquainted wllh Ihe muidered girl.
Mary Jane Dalion, Ihe murdered girl,
since the death ol her mother, nearly
four years ago, has kept house for her
father. She was always a good girl,
and held In Ihe highest regard throughout the while community. In less
Ihan a month she was to have married
a Vancouver man, and was preparing
her trousseau.
