purchase of one or two acres from A
Baird. for a Ute lor the brewery. This
properly it situated on the river bank

a len acre tract across the river, situated on the Mara road, Irom Ira C.
Jones.
It is th* intention io put In
the most up-lo date machinery and
buildings and to mak* lh* articles of
manufacture second to none In Ihe
province. In fact Enderby beer will
be io Enderby what Schllti beer is to
Milwaukee. Ihe kind that made, >or
will make i it famous. Mr. Youngmayr has had a large eipetience in
ihe brewing of beer, having brewed In
Vancouver and New Westminster lor
a number of years, besides learning his
business In a country which u lamous

Besides manufacturing beer, in ice
making machine will be Installed, which
will have a capacity ol Ilve tons a day;
so there will be no need lor Enderby

CIVIC BUSINESS.
Two meetings ol the city council
have been held since our last Issue.
The special meeling which was called
lor Friday evening was Icr Ihe purpose
i.l further consideration ol tenders lor
the installation ol the waterworks system A t-nder was received from lhe
Pipe Co. for $18,500, al
• ihey will Hiatal the system
h wu ihe unanimous opinion ol lhe council that though this
tender was ihe only complete one
which had been pul up, ll Ihey wanted
to see the Installation this fall they
would have lo accept ll. ll was pointed cut that one or two side streets
cculd be cut oil this year, and so enable
the cost ol lhe system to be brought
within lhe limit provided tor by Ihe
bylaw,
It was moved by Aid. Worthlnglon.
and seconded by Aid. Evans, thai Ihe
tender of the Canidlan Pipe Co. be
accepted, and the motion carried unanimously.
Under the contract the (Irsl carload
ol pipe will be shipped on September
10th. and work will be commenced on
September 15th. The Company wrote
asking thai ll be made known that they
will require ihe services ol all the men
ihey can commind, to work cn the
Intallatlon ol the system.
The regular meeting cl the council
wu held on Wednesday. Waterworks
waa again the main theme ol discussion, G, C. Tunstall wrote saying thai
Ihere was no objection lo the record
by the city on Brash's creek and lhat
no doubt the record would be granted.
The Clerk wu Instructed to draw up
an agreement lor ilgnature by the
Canadian Pipe Company, and forward
ll on to them.
Some discussion waa had over the
school district. The Miyor reported
that Mr, Hassard was annoyed at not
being Included in the city school district, tt was decided to ask the
Educational Department to include the
Sinnh, Hassard and Carefool propertlea
In th* ichool district
facilities Enderby wanu Industries,
and now thai we have th* chance of
securing another, every effort ahould
be made so that it will become an
accomplished lact. We hope Mr.
Youngmayr will ba *ble to surmount
all difficulties, and that we shall soon
see construction commenced on the
buildings.
