SUPPLEMENT TOTHE ADVANCE.
Midway, B. C, July 5th, 18117.
American Admiration.
The New York Sun in desei-iliing
Jubilee scenes, expresses admiration
for the inlenee loyalty displayed hy
thu British people when it. says (—"The
intense personal loyalty uf the British
people to their sovereign Is one fact
above all others which this marvellous
spectacle In the streets of London has
impressed ou all beholders. It is easy
to dicuss nil else — the procession, decorations and illuminations, hut, this
stupendous thing, this inajesl ia homage
of ninny millions, spoken inone mighty
inarticulate voice, cannot he pul into
words. I know not With what to coin-
parch. It was not hero worship .Itwas
not mere devotion ton favorite ruler,
It was not even pnti-otism, It was
more personal, nt. le human, than that.
It was the deepest.nnd wannest heart
tribute to the womanliness of Ihe
Queen and the qtieenlitiess of Ibe
woman.
"Most significant of all, this spirit
found its most fervent expression in
what Lincoln loved to tall the common
people. All the pettiness und official
muddling which made the preparation*,
fgr the Jubilee n seandal, banished into
nothingness when the masses, which
still are the hone nnd sinew of England
got a chutieetoi Me their vbices henni.
Their voice, lie ii!, nderstood, and not.
the well-hied applause and cheers of
Ihe occnpatits'of ten-guinea seats, furnished the key iintcuf tu-day's festival.
The might y ro r from inillionsof throats
never ceased from lhe moment the
Queen left the palace until -the was
helped from Ihecarringi it Ihe end of
the trying ordeal, three ours later.
"But the Jul .lice was nut simply and
solely the Queen's, as il should have
been. While the t-eleln lion, Hrst of
ull, was a personal tribute to the sove*
reign, there was nolui-k of emphasis of
the signitlcutico of ihe second great
feature. This was the new imperial
spirit, which has unly recenlly had Ils
birth. I' 'link the fnintl llf '. IIIHK'iili-
cenl popular ovation ttithe representatives of tlle .-ninnies, which was astonishing iii its fen ur and intnisitv,
"But it is us the greatest gutheriiigof
hiiinan helngs lhe world has ever seeu
thai Queen Victoria's Jubilee will live,
In ilie memory of ihose win. partici-
paled in it and in the history of the
race.
"I have no word nf disparagement for
thfe wonderful day in the wonderful
hisforv of this wonderful Empire. Tlle

common with I housundsuf nther aliens,
t nave Watched men of every color and

The properties, which are absolutely
owned by the Company, consist of
eight claims lying in n group anil
namad iu follows: "The Fred, D.,"
"S. n. B.,""Big Ledge," "D. A.,**
"0. B„" "8, F.," "fl. A. R."»nd "J.
A. C," being fully shown snd explained
in the Map Plan annexed.
DESCRIPTION
On the " 1). A." is u vein nliont 20
inches wide, with a pny-sttreuk'of 4 to
12 inches; from this 8,0511 His, uf ore
was shipped tn the smelter, giving
$1011.15 gold per Ion, silver 74 7-10 ozs.,
and 2 per cent, lend. A tunnel is heing
driven oo this vein fmni which ore is
being taken. On the name property is
a larger vein (,i|iiartz) currying galena
and pyrites.
The "G. A. It." has a 30-fool shaft
■link on a 2-fout vein, heavily mineral-
lied with nn intimate, mixture uf iron
and copper pyrites, galena, blende and
lilverglunce. Theflnestpiecesofwiresil*
verfnund onBoiindaryCreekwerelnkeii
from this shaft. Aveiage assays frum
different places across the vein gave
$8.00 gold, 50 (./a. silver; also $8.00
gnld and 150 ozs. silver and one, lhe
latest return—$l'i.05 gold and 1IKI4-5
ins. silver per ton.
On the "Big Ledge1! is a 10-fool
quartz vein, mineralized with iron
pyrites. This vein has been opened
up hy cross-ciilB on the Mil-face for 500
feel. A narrower vein has been
.-dNtei
opened up, lieing one fool wide, currying cmisiderahle copper pyrites, nnd
rims inlo the main ledge as a spur, on
which a tunnel of 40 feel has been
driven. Average assays gave $33 gold
and 1110 ozs. silver, and $40.36 gold,
17) ozs. silver, 2 per cent, cupper.
The "O. B." has two distinct veins
one 25 feel wide which, from ils strike
and general character would seem lo
he llie same vein as Ihal. on Ihe Big
Ledge, although sufficient has not
been done to make this conclusive.
The second vein hns al. present a
width of nearly three feet. Assays
have shown values in gold from $4.1X1
to $170.53, while a conservative sampling by Mr, 8. 8, Fowler, M. E, gave
$20.00 in gold.
On Ihe " 8. H. B." are two converging rein*, of copper and iron pyrites,
on which work is now being done. An
average assay gave, gold $1.50, silver
ltt oxs„ cupper 11,96 per cent,, or
$40.44 for all values.
The "Fred D."wa» located in De
cemlter, 1806, more ns ground for a
basis for mining operations for lhe
olher claims than for its present value,
although there is little doubt that the
large vein on Ihe O. B, runs through
it. There is a small vein of galena on
Ihis claim.
the *' 8. F." lies bet weed Ihe G. A. B.
and D. A.,in the dire:lino of Ihe strike
on the fl. A. B, vein. This lorallonliiis
been made on a vein of pyrrlioiite,
The "J. A. C." has a large iron-
rapping running through it. from the
Anaconda, at a depth of a few feel,
lhe ore carries a considerable percentage of uf copper nnd $10 in gold.
