Midway, II. C.
Demi Sir,- I hnvo received your tologram of
ilu-UTtli instant, tho contents of which I note.
I very much regret that this railway matter
had Ui bo stood over for another year but I
could not control the action of tlio people at the
coastorof Miltio Moltnies end Maxwell. They
apparently wanted to get tbo Victoria, Vancouver anil Kaatci'ii charter through, and oppose
Ileinze gol ting bis. In Ihu Interests of the
country ll would bnve been better to havo both
charters through, and for tliem to fight it out
illlcrivnrds. As It is the government refuse to

SUPPLEMENT TO THE ADVANCE,
Midway, B. 0„ July 12th, 1807.
The B. C. Claim.
Some time since It was given out,
that Kelioi* Brothers hud made u lilg
And In Summit camp, and lhey had i-e-
fused ii very large offer made to them
by parties wishing to get an option on
the property. Their action was no
doubt dictated hy their desire to convince themselves more fully of the
real extent of their lind, and this they
have to some extent done, as stripping
ou the surface discloses that Ihe ore
body is some 38 feet between walls, and
has up to the present been traced for a
distance of 250 yards. In the center of
this enormous body of ore, is a chute
that, runs much higher than the rest,
carrying it is said some 17 percent copper, $2.00 in gold and $0.00 in silver.
This chute Is also large as it is about, 12
feet wide. Some beautiful specimens
of peacock copper is taken therefrom.
Tlle balance nf lhe vein maybe said to
run from 8 to 8 per cent in copper, und
by its tippearaiice, something might
be done in Ihe way of concentrating it,
when the time comes to work it.
Nondescript Government.
The Nelson Tribune pays the following compliment to the British Columbia Government I—The present, government in British Columbia is a
nonedescript, and no explanation can
be given why it retains office, other
than the fact, that the peuple, at limes,
like to look at ciirioslt ies. The premier
is a fairly sensible man when mu rounded by sensible men; the attorney-
general is no guud: the commissioner
of land and works Is too much of a
hud fellow j the provincial secretary is
a faddist; the president of the council-
isacoporation lawyer. Tliesubordnate
officials areas badalol nsuretheeliiefs,
They have been so long in office thai
lhey imagine the country cannot get
nlong without, them; their methods of
doing business are not up to date; they
are so numerous that they are in
the way of each other, The whole outfit should be uiaile walk the gangway.
This can lie done a year hence if Ihe
people who are qnullHed to register
will gu to the trouble to have their
names placed on the voters' list, Every
man in Kootenay qualified to register
should register at. once,

Good Ore in the Minnehaha.
The Minnehaha Company's property
in Camp McKinney is looking up exceeding well, since the ledgu was crosscut at tlle 85 foot, level. Not only isithe
properly looking well, theme is increasing in richness asdepthi.sallained,
as recent assays it is su'd have shown
lhat ore is now being raised to the surface which runs over $100 to the ion.
Three shifts of men lire nt work, and
develupiiienl is being pushed with
much vigor, in fact it. is said prepeta-
tluns nre being made for lhe instiil-
lntion of machinery, which will take
the form ofa steam hoist, and in all
prohuhllily a cumpresstir plant. From
