AN ACT TO IMPOSE CERTAIN STAMP DUTIES ON WRITINGS AND DEEDS. WHEREAS IT IS EXPEDIENT TO IMPOSE STAMP DUTIES ON WRITINGS AND DEEDS; BE IT ENACTED BY HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR, ON HER MAJESTY'S BEHALF, BY AND WITH THE ADVICE AND CONSENT OF THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL AND ASSEMBLY [sic], AS FOLLOWS: ... THIS ACT MAY BE CITED AS THE "VANCOUVER ISLAND STAMP ACT, 1862." (at end of first page 6].
