An authentic statement of all the facts relative to Nootka Sound : its discovery, history, settlement, trade and the probable advantages to be derived from it, in an address to the King Etches, John Cadman
Description
"Signed: Argonaut. Richard Cadman Etches and his brother John financed the King George's Sound Company to trade for furs. Several ships were despatched, latterly the Prince of Wales, Captain Colnett, and Princess Ro}'al, Captain Duncan, with John Etches as supercargo. Their ships were among those seized by the Spanish at Nootka. Etches summarizes the commercial undertakings of the brothers and denies the rights of Spain to a monopoly of trade."-- Strathern, G. M., & Edwards, M. H. (1970). Navigations, traffiques & discoveries, 1774-1848: A guide to publications relating to the area now British Columbia. Victoria, BC: University of Victoria, p. 87.
