"Limited edition of 1100 copies. Sometimes cited by the sub-title: The manuscript journals of Alexander Henry. Edited from a transcript of Henry's journal made by George Coventry in 1824 and now in the Parliamentary Library, Ottawa. Coues took "what grammatical liberties with the manuscript I saw fit. Deletion of simply superfluous words and of sheerly tautological phrases made it [the next] shrink about one-fourth... I have condensed to the utmost some parts of the Journal and even have cancelled entries of little or no present significance...":- Editor's preface, pp.xii-xiv. "In his notes, the Editor gives collateral information from the journals of David Thompson q.v. now in the Provincial Archives, Toronto.":- T.P.L. Published simultaneously in Great Britain by Suckling & Co. from the American printing. Contents: vol.I. The Red River of the north.- vol.2. Saskatchewan and Columbia Rivers.- vol.3.
