Queen Charlotte Islands : a narrative of discovery and adventure in the North Pacific Poole, Francis

Description

"John W. Lyndon was the pseudonym of John Wyse. The author, an engineer, was employed in 1862 by the Queen Charlotte Mining Company to mine copper at Skincuttle Inlet. He lived there for eighteen months with his white labourers, who, according to Poole, were rebelliously inclined. The book, based on Poole's diaries, is an account of the mining adventure and of his relations with the Haida Indians during this period." -- Lowther, B. J., & Laing, M. (1968). A bibliography of British Columbia: Laying the foundations, 1849-1899. Victoria, BC: University of Victoria, p. 47.
