The purpose of this study\r\nis to investigate the surface properties and the process of aggregation of surfactant micelles in detergents. By using a\r\ndrop-weight method, the surface tension of detergent solutions was determined under standard pressure condition 1\r\nbar. A 100% concentrated detergent solution was subject to heating. Data analysis showed that surface tension decreased\r\nlinearly with increasing temperature, as represented by the equation  \u01b4 =  \u2013 0.1766 mN\/(m\u22c5K)(x) + 94.654\r\nmN\/m, where x  is temperature. When subjected to variations in concentration, surface tension of the detergent decreased\r\nuntil reaching the critical micelle concentration, as modelled by the segmented linear regression  \u01b4 = \u2013 0.565\r\nmN\/(m\u22c5%)(x) + 61.7 mN\/m when x < 50%, and  \u01b4 = 33.45 mN\/m when x  \u2265 50%, where x is concentration.","language":"en"},{"key":"dc.language.iso","value":"eng","language":"en"},{"key":"dc.relation.ispartofseries","value":"University of British Columbia.
