Low-valent boron-transition metal complexes supported by a bidentate carbene-phosphine ligand Wei, YuXiang
Abstract
A novel bidentate carbene-phosphine ligand was synthesized as a framework for low-valent transition metal boron complexes. Various corresponding carbene-borane adducts were synthesized. An iron borylene complex was synthesized via salt elimination and fully characterized. A nickel-boryl complex was accessed by oxidative added to one B−Br bond, where a second B−Br remained η² coordinated to the metal center. A reactivity study of this species revealed a unique isocyanide insertion into B−Ni bond, forming an unprecedented C−N−Ni three membered ring. Along with DFT calculation, these results support a boryl nickel complex over a borylene-type species. Promising evidence for the formation of a nickel aminoborylene complex is also presented.
