Abstract
This thesis, entitled Susurrus, is an 18-minute, single-movement work for chamber ensemble, live electronics, and virtual reality. Susurrus is scored for flute, vibraphone, soprano, cello, piano, and virtual reality performer. This thesis focuses on exploring the possibilities of combining contemporary electroacoustic music composition and performance with modern virtual reality technology. As part of the thesis, I designed and developed a virtual reality performance environment called Virtual Reality – Open Sound Control (VR-OSC), which I use to perform the live-electronics portion of Susurrus.
