Pantomime Pierrot, who is no Clitandre, empties a flask without any more ado and, ever practical, digs into a pate. Cassandra, at the end of the avenue, sheds an unobserved tear over her disinherited nephew. That rogue of a Harlequin schemes the abduction of Columbine and pirouettes four times. Columbine dreams, surprised to feel a heart in the breeze and to hear voices in her heart. Moonlight Your soul is a choice landscape under the spell of maskers and mummers playing the lute and dancing, and almost sad beneath their fantastic disguises. Even while singing in the minor mode of victorious love and opportune life, they do not seem to believe in their happiness, and their song mingles with the moonlight, with the calm moonlight, sad and beautiful, which makes the birds dream in the trees and the fountains sob with ecstacy, the tall slender fountains amid the marble statues. Pierrot Dear old Pierrot, at whom the crowd gazes, having finished with Harlequin's wedding, goes dreamily along die Boulevard du Temple. A young girl in a loose blouse vainly provokes him with her roguish eyes, and meanwhile, mysterious and smooth, making of him her dearest delight, the white moon with the bull's horns darts a glance with her eye into the wings to her friend Jean Gaspard Debureau. Apparition The moon was growing sad. Seraphim in tears, dreaming, bow in hand, in the calm of the misty flowers were, from dying viols, drawing white sobs gliding over die azure of the corollas. It was the blessed day of your first kiss. My reverie delighting in making a martyr of me knowingly grew intoxicated with die perfume of sadness Uiat even widiout regret and widiout mischance leaves die harvesting of a Dream to die heart which picked it. So I was wandering, my eye fixed on the aging pavement when with sun in your hair, in die road and in the evening, laughing, you appeared to me and I thought I saw the fairy with the hat of brightness who formerly, on the beautiful nights of sleep of my spoilt youth, passed, always letting white bouquets of scented stars fall like snow from her half-closed hands.
