Description

Bang Khun Thian (โรงเจมหาโพธิสัตว์กวนอิม) (菩薩壇) is a three-winged Guanyin (觀音) temple in Bangkok, Thailand. The temple houses both Buddhist and Daoist deities, even though the main altar is dedicated to Guanyin. The following images show the entranceway into the right wing of the Bang Khun Thian temple (โรงเจมหาโพธิสัตว์กวนอิม) (菩薩壇). Image 01 shows a perspective of this right entranceway relative to the main entranceway to the left. Image 02 shows an overview of the paintings and inscriptions around the door. Above the door it reads, 超凡, "transcending." On the top right there is a narrative painting, and the writing on the left reads, 王庸拱母. The middle painting depicts a bird laying eggs, and the bottom painting in this picture depicts a tree with yellow and purple blossoms. The inscription on the door reads, 出入, which is likely part of a Chengyu (成語), or four-character idiom, commonly written on doors. The complete statement is 出入平安 "go and come in peace."
