Description

Stone image of the descent of Maitreya (彌勒下生像). The white jade Buddha image is placed in the Vairocana Hall (Pilu dian 毗盧殿) of Fayuan Temple (法源寺). It is about 20cm in high, was probably made in the second year of Zheng Guang 正光 (521) during the Norther Wei Dynasty 北魏 (386-535).
