Description

Pagoda of Princess Jinxian (689-732), 金仙公主塔. Seven-storied, multi-eave square pagoda with arched exterior roof; produced in white marble with southern facing base. The southern wall of the first story of the pagoda contains an open niche with carvings of guardian (figures) on the left and right sides. An inscription on the outer surface of the northern wall reads: “大唐开元金仙长公主赐经碑记 (Stele Record of the Sutra(s) bestowed by Princess Jinxian in the Kaiyuan era (713-741 C.E) of the Tang dynasty)." The inscription notes: "大唐开元十八年 (the eighteen year of the Kaiyuan era of the (great) Tang dynasty; 730)." Several inscriptions of poems written in five-character verse are also included. The dimensions of the structure’s walls measure: Height: 127cm.; Width 100cm.
