Liao-era 遼 sutra and buddha-image pillar (Liaodai fojiao jingchuang 遼代佛像經幢), Yunju Temple (雲居寺) Buckelew, Kevin; Sung, Suhyoung; Li, Chengpeng; Wu, Jinhui; Wang, An
Description
This is a "sutra-pillar" containing images of buddhas on all sides, located to the side of a large Liao-era 遼 (916-1125) pagoda on the grounds of Yunju Temple 雲居寺. It does not seem to have any text. The Chinese description says that such pillars often have the Dharani Sutra (Tuoluoni jing 陀羅尼經) written on them, but it seems this one does not. Base measurements: height 64cm, width 66cm. Body measurements: height 127cm, width 60cm.
