Description

Acolyte Residence Hall (Sōkaku tei 雙鶴亭) of Manpukuji (萬福寺), an Ōbaku 黄檗 Zen head temple in Uji 宇治, Kyoto prefecture 京都府, Japan. This hall is the accommodation for personal attendants (侍者) for the Abbots. In Manpukuji, personal attendants serve the East Abbot (東方丈), the current Abbot in charge. At the same time, some attendants are assigned to the West Abbot (西方丈), the previous Abbot of the temple. Image 01 shows the front view of the Acolyte Residence Hall. Image 02 shows the Hall assigned in Chinese, which is called 雙鶴亭. Image 03shows the overview of the inner hall from the entrance.
