Description

This niche is located in Beishan Rock Carvings (北山石刻), Fowan (佛灣), Dazu (大足) District, Chongqing. The left figure is a male in an official’s attire with a headwear, futou (幞頭), typically worn by government officials. His left hand holds a gold or silver ingot, or sycee, also known as yuanbao (元寶), while the right hand grips his belt. The male figure on the right side is warrior-like in a suit of armour covered with a piece of cloth hanging from the left shoulder.
