Description

This niche is located in Beishan Rock Carvings (北山石刻), Fowan (佛灣), Dazu (大足) District, Chongqing. It depicts a bodhisattva sitting in a Lalitasana posture with the right leg crossed and the left leg hanging down, stepping on a lotus flower. The bodhisattva has a circular halo and wears a pretty headdress adorned with floral motifs and a pair of long ribbons extended from both sides. The necklace and pants are decorated with jewellery. The left hand holds a water vase, and the right hand has a willow branch. The bodhisattva is flanked by two standing attedants: a male figure on the left and a female one on the right.
