Description

Niche 14, a rectangular vault, is located east of niche 13 in Yuanjue dong 圓覺洞, Anyue xian 安岳縣, Sichuan sheng 四川省. It contains a statue of Avalokiteśvara (Ch. Guanyin 觀音) 525 cm high and standing barefoot with a slight bend to the left, atop a lotus platform [1][2]. The deity is portrayed with both an halo (Ch. touguang 頭光) and an aura (Ch. shenguang 身光). Avalokiteśvara wears a double-layer bejeweled crown, a kāṣāya (Ch. jiasha 袈裟), and a long skirt. Avalokitesvara's right hand is holding a long stalk of a lotus flower while the left hand rests on the right wrist.
