Description
These photographs show a statue representing the seven buddhas of the past accompanied by an attendant statues in Kongque dong 孔雀洞, Anyue xian 安岳縣, Sichuan sheng 四川省. Both the buddha's hands and the head of the attendant are covered with with red cloth (Ch. pihong 披紅), part of a devotional practice carried out by laypeople in southwest China since the Ming dynasty.
