Stand Your Ground Act I Carnegie Dance Troupe; Karen Jamieson Dance
Description
A work-in-progress performance of Stand Your Ground took place at the Dancing on the Edge Festival, Monday, July 9 to Friday, July 13, 5pm at the Firehall Arts Centre Courtyard. The piece moves from the Firehall Courtyard to the Carnegie Community Centre, so audiences were limited to twenty per performance. This was the first draft of a performance drawn from the Carnegie/Firehall Community Project; a three year dance project led by Karen Jamieson, engaging residents of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside in ongoing processes of dance study and creation. Community participants experience working in a dance practice through a series of free weekly workshops including creation and performance processes. The culminating performance of this project took place in July of 2008.
