Ptolemaic Egypt : Egyptian Religion Pfeiffer, Stefan

Description

This entry consists of data that refers to what we today call Egyptian religion, dating to the "Ptolemaic Period". It is a stage of the Egyptian cults that immediately followed the previous epochs and used the conventional Egyptian motifs, practices and texts in its forms of expression. Egyptian religion was not ethnically bound, but exerted a great attraction also on the immigrants in Egypt. In principle, it was open to everyone to participate in the local cults.
