House repaired without earthquake resistant features Subedi, Prakash

Description

Many houses were quickly repaired for use after the 2015 earthquake. Even when the National Reconstruction Authority was formed eight months after the earthquake, it took time for them to come up with earthquake resistant house designs and guidelines; by which time, many people had already repaired their old house without incorporating any of the earthquake resistant designs. Taken during the 1st phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
