This house, which did not suffer much damage in the 2015 earthquake, is an example of traditional building design in Borang. The masonry walls on windward sides function as main loadbearing walls, and timber has been extensively used to support the structure and as walls. Taken during the 1st phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
