Worker splitting a tree trunk Limbu, Bina

Description

The post-earthquake reconstruction has not only introduced new earthquake resistant designs and technology, but also new instruments. Here, a worker splits tree trunks using hand-held chainsaws which have become common after the 2015 earthquake. Taken during the 1st phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
