Public notice restricting timber extraction Suji, Manoj

Description

People in the area have always harvested timber from their own private forests as well as the nearest government forests for their needs. This public notice from the local government office restricts timber extraction without permission. With the local government asserting itself like this and the community forestry groups restricting access, people have a hard time not only accessing timber for post-earthquake reconstruction, but also fodder for their animals. Taken during the 2nd phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
