Women masons at work Suji, Manoj
Many women masons have been trained to fill the gap left by the out-migration of men and a scarcity of skilled masons during the reconstruction process following the 2015 earthquake. They also got on-the-job training and supervision as well. A lady engineer is supervising women masons' in this photo. Taken during the 1st phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
