House made out of corrugated iron sheets Suji, Manoj

Description

Due to a lack of funds, building materials, and skilled labour after the 2015 earthquake, many poor families have been reduced to building and living in houses made of corrugated and galvanised iron sheets. These sheets are hot during the summer and cold during the winter, and suffer particularly from inside condensation that drips down onto the floor. Taken during the 1st phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
