Reconstructed school Suji, Manoj

Description

Schools were the most extensively damaged structures by the 2015 earthquake in the rural areas. Rebuilding them has been a slow process due to the increased costs of building earthquake resistant structures as well as the difficulty of finding a suitable space for the large buildings that schools require. Taken during the 3rd phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
