Reinforced concrete tie beams in an under construction house Limbu, Bina

Description

Most of the buildings and houses reconstructed after the 2015 earthquake follow government-mandated building codes and use reinforced concrete as a primary building material, as houses built with reinforced concrete suffered less damage in the earthquake. Taken during the 1st phase of fieldwork conducted by the research team based at Social Science Baha in Kathmandu, Nepal, as part of the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant, ‘Expertise, Labour and Mobility in Nepal’s Post-Conflict, Post-Disaster Reconstruction’.
